Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church has been serving Johnson City and the surrounding areas since 1957, and as they consider themselves a progressive congregation, they have experienced steady growth over the years. Their aim in constructing a new family life addition to their existing church building was to increase opportunities to serve in ministry and mission. The 20,000 square foot facility allowed them to add much needed Sunday School facilities, a gymnasium, a remodeled kitchen, and pre-school classrooms. Thomas Weems Architect gave special attention to not only providing for the expanding needs of the church, but also melding the new design with existing buildings through complementary geometry and materials.
